Here are the shots from our California trip. These were all just quickly edited in Picasa, I'll probably do some more serious editing in Photoshop on my favorites.

Here are before and after shots of our "doubling-of-the-garden" weekend. It wasn't supposed to take the whole weekend but after I got done weed-eating the crown vetch I found our big piles of rock that we moved from the yard when we originally planted grass. These wonderful piles of rock had weeds growing up around them which made them even more fun to relocate. I ended up getting out my pick-axe to break up the piles of rock and compacted dirt, and then moved them into our stream. Hopefully I'll never have to do that again :) Now our 2nd garden is full of sweet corn!

Another shot that I am submitting to the GCC exhibit. This was taken at Genesee Country Village Museum with my 70-200mm f/4L. I love this lens!

I have discovered RockBox! I own the Iriver H10 20gb mp3 player and have been suffering with their software for over 2 years now. I finally put my foot down and installed RockBox on it. RockBox is an open source firmware for mp3 players. The installation was quick and super easy. It even allows you to boot into your proprietary firmware if you want. It also moves all of your current mp3s over to the new system so you don't lose anything, or have to format. I've been using it for about 2 weeks now and am absolutely in love. When my H10 dies I will likely just buy another one and install RockBox, that's how good it is.

IRiver issues that RockBox improves:

  1. The ability to re-charge and play in my car.
  2. The ability to bookmark my spot and continue after a re-charge
  3. The ability to never crash
  4. The ability to never have to do a hard reset.
  5. The ability to pause/start without having to wake up the screen.
  6. The ability to plug in my IRiver and have it show up as a drive on my computer.
These are the things that I love so far and have only used it for 2 weeks. I'm excited to see what else is to come!

This bridge runs over Buttermilk Falls in LeRoy, NY. The falls is completely dry right now, but the bridge sure is colorful! Shot with my 10-22mm at 10mm-1/25s @ f/9
